First Presidential Club Changeover Dinner
On Saturday 25th June we had our First Presidential changeover!! It was a very exciting night. We shared the night with Rotarians, friends and family at the Salisbury Bowls Club. Our new President John has some exciting plans for the club and we are confident he will do a great job. Watch out for the Rotaract Club of Sunnybank!!
Masterchef came to Sunnybank Rotaract!
At our last meeting in June we had a Masterchef competition to find out if our members know a thing or two about cooking. The atmosphere was buzzing, the teams produced some delicious dishes (including the impaled snakes-marshmallow and lolly snakes) and we had a whole lot of fun! Thanks to Rotarian Chris for judging.
The Rotaract Club of South West Brisbane gatecrashed our meeting!!
There we were peacefully having our meeting when a gaggle of Rotaractors barged through the door in their pyjamas! It was a great opportunity to get to know some of the Rotaractors in our district. We enjoyed pizza together before joining teams for some trivia. Great night guys…and a great payback for our pirates gatecrash night!!
Bare foot bowls Bring-a-team fundraiser
The provisional date for the bare foot bowls day is the 19th June. We will be running a bare foot bowls day at the Sunnybank Bowls club. The event is to raise money for a community in Ghana. We will be running a fair trade business with them so that they can make handicrafts to sell at our events and be paid a fair wage. There will be a BBQ lunch, an afternoon of bowls on the green and free coaching available. The cost is $15/person as it is an international fundraiser and we need your support!
Make a team of 4, or even two teams of 4 and come along to have a great afternoon!!
Visits to nursing home
As part of our service to the local community we will be visiting Regis Anchorage House, Salisbury. Every Saturday from 10am-1pm a group of us will be visiting the residents, playing games, singing songs, painting nails and having a good old chat to find out some of the amazing history of our local community and its residents.
Helping at Homeless Food Van
Every 2nd Thursday from 6pm the Rotaractors help out at Access Street Vans (Cnr of Aminya St and Arura St, Mansfield) to help out at the food van to feed the homeless in our community. Call Michael Jones for more details or send us an email.
